BURIED CHERRY COOKIES (Hershey's Make It Chocolate)

This has many steps but is very easy. This was also created BEFORE MICROWAVES, so...

1/2 c butter or margarine
1 c sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 t vanilla
1 1/2 c flour
1/3 c cocoa
1/4 t baking power
1/4 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
1 10 oz. jar maraschino cherries (about 44)

2/3 c sweetened condensed milk
1/2 c semi-sweet chocolate chips

(Personal Tip: The night before drain cherries, leave in strainer, and refrigerate overnight. Cherries need to be as dry as possible inside and out before use.)

Make chocolate frosting first and set aside. Remove cherries from frig.

Frosting: In small saucepan combine sweetened condensed mild and chocolate chips. Stir constantly over low heat until chips are melted and mixture is smooth, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool thoroughly.

Heat oven to 350 degrees

In large mixing bowl cream butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture until well blended.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Place about 2 inches apart (these cookies spread out while baking) on ungreased cookie sheet. Press center of each cookie the thumb to make indentation and place 1 cherry in the center on indention. Bake 10 minutes or until edges are set. Remove from cook sheet and cool on wire rack. Drop teaspoon of frosting over cherry, spreading it to cover cherry completely.

Tuna Noodle Bake

In 1942, this recipe was first printed in Goodhousekeeping Magazine .

5-oz. wide Noodles (2 cups broken up)
1-7 oz. can tuna, flaked
pepper
1-can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1-cup milk
1-cup crushed potato chips

Cook noodles as label directs. Pour into greased 13X9X2 inch baking dish. Arrange tuna on top. Sprinkle lightly with pepper. Mix soup and milk; pour over all. Cover with potato chips.

Makes 4 servings.

I used 2 cans of tuna, drained, and 2 cans of cream of mushroom with one can of milk. I also covered the top with chips.

THIS IS A GOOD BASE RECIPE...PLAY WITH IT AND ADD WHAT YOU WANT! CHANGE OUT THE TUNA FOR SHRIMP!
